Back to the Beginning

I started this website with a photo of a native New Zealand robin, but I have never actually written a blog about that photo. It was taken on Ulva Island, located in an inlet of Stewart Island. I had been working in Riverton and we decided that we couldn’t miss the opportunity to go to Stewart Island while we were so close. We woke up there on ANZAC morning 2012 and saw the dawn parade.

Stewart Island is south of the South Island of New Zealand. According to Maori mythology it is the anchor of Maui’s waka (canoe) that he was in when he fished up the North Island.
